Oil paint, liquid graphite
birch panel
My artistic journey is primarily rooted in oil painting, where I explore the depth and richness that this medium offers. I have integrated liquid graphite into my work. This allows for burnishing to a beautiful shine, adding a modern twist to my traditional methods.
Incorporating encaustic techniques, a practice dating back over a thousand years, I achieve a luminous texture and depth through the use of heated beeswax and pigments. This ancient method, combined with contemporary tools, brings a unique tactile quality to my pieces.
I prefer working on hardboard surfaces, a preference honed during my years of painting murals. This surface allows me to achieve the precision and durability I seek in my art. Each layer, whether oil, graphite, or encaustic, is meticulously applied to create a harmonious blend of technique and emotion, making every piece a journey through both time and texture.
